Fox Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Simpsons Season 9 for 19th December 2006 priced at $49.98 SRP. The complete ninth season of The Simpsons comes to DVD just in time for Christmas, and comes complete with the premiere episode of the season which some thought might be problematic – The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson - in which the twin towers of the World Trade Center feature heavily.

Episodes are spread across four-discs presented in Full Frame with English DD5.1 Surround audio, French and Spanish Stereo audio and English and Spanish subtitles. Extras include:

* A Riff from Matt Groening – Introduction to the set
* Commentaries by various staff members and voice actors on every episode
* Deleted Scenes on each disc viewable branched back into the episodes
* Deleted Scenes Gallery – View every deleted scene in one gallery on Disc 4 complete with intro by Mike Scully and optional commentary from the staff
* Animatic / Storyboard Comparisons on “The Principal & The Pauper Act 3 “ & “The Lisa The Simpson Act 1”
* Illustrated Commentary on “All Singing, All Dancing” & “Lost our Lisa”
* The Simpsons Movie Exclusive Sneak Peek
* Promotional Spots
* Sketch Gallery
* Special Language Feature on 1 episode

Season 9 will be available in Lisa Head Packaging or in a standard digi-pak box to match the first five seasons.
