I'm moving to a new house (standard 3bed semi) & want to set-up a home network with 2 pc's, 1 upstairs & 1 downstairs. BB is wireless and will be brought from the receiver on the roof in2 the attic, i'll prob set-up the router in the hotpress. Help me choose a router & 2 wireless adapters from Komplett that are powerful enough for me.
    Thanks in advance
    Pog

    ......bump :D

There's so many choices, finding it hard to choose which 1 is better or suits my needs.

And one of these for the lappie:

One of these for the desktop:

Although you may be able to get cheaper adapters, its a good idea buying all from the same manufacturer.
I've been running those Linksys routers for the last few years, fantastic investment.

Cheers m8, its for 2 desktops, i'll possibly get a lappy at some stage also & my next project is a htpc. Will that router be good enough for 4 pc's? Also, i'm a big gamer, is it good enough for gaming?

That router will do what you need it for, you could pay an extra few yoyo for this:
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=306149
Which has a "speed booster" but to take advantage of the booster you also need compatable Wireless NICS. To be honest not worth the extra hassle and money, mainly because if you are gaming, the connection between and the router and the internet will be a lot slower than your internal LAN so it would be the least of your worries.
I have my router with about 6 devices behind it on a 3 meg internet connection.
There are rarely problems and if there are problems its usually with internet access when 6 people try to download a 1 gig file all at once from the net. Internally the network speed is fine.
There are a lot of features/functions on the linksys model in my first post including four network ports that you can use if you want to set up a fileshare server in the hotpress beside the router, software wise, there are some QoS functions as well as access control and bandwidth control that can be decked out to users who like to hog the internet connection for file sharing.
I think you'll see a lot of recommendations for Linksys stuff on this forum.

PogMoThoin has wireless broadband - he doesn't want a modem, he wants a router.

I honestly don't have any personal experience on which to base a recommendation.

I've always been happy with the D-Link gear I've used, and Komplett have a nice bundle on a D-Link DSL-G624T ADSL2+ router and USB wi-fi adapter. It get's good reviews so if I was in your position, that's what I'd be spending my money on. If you don't need the USB adapter, you should be able to sell it on to bring your overall cost down.

I can recommend the Ruckus Mediaflex router (www.ruckuswireless.com).
I'v recently tested one and the connectivity and throughput is better than I have seen with any other wireless router on the market..
