    Who are your favourite short story writers and books?
    Here's a few of mine:
    Raymond Carver - anything by him
    Tobias Wolf - Hunters in the Snow
    Amy Hempel - Collected Stories
    William Trevor - The Hill Bachelors
    Richard Ford - Rock Springs,Multitude of Sins
    Chekhov - all his stories are great and varied
    Charles Bukowski - The most beautiful girl in this town

    I like Henry James' short stories...much better than his novels

    James Plunkett to me was always the leading Irish short story writer, but he never had much competition in the first place.
