Did anybody hear about Pat Kenny getting a gun pointed at him in Moyross last Monday night when he was recording a segment for his radio show?

I was half listening to Gerry Ryan this morning when he mentioned it.. Apparantly the teenagers were coming down to where Pat Kenny was to show him their bullet proof vests and one of the guys took a gun out to him.

TBH, if Pat Kenny stood outside my house, I'd probably point a gun at him as well.

i think it was more showing it to him rather than pointing it at him, i could be wrong though

    ...jokingly...

It's gas to see the different way each paper treats the story!

The Herald: I wasn't surprised by gun toting teen - Pat: "...confronted by a teen armed with a gun..."

The Times: Gardai interview Kenny over Moyross gun: "...shown a pistol..."

The Mirror: (front page)"TEEN PULLS GUN ON PAT KENNY": "...pulled a gun on..."

And the translation is... a kid took out a gun and showed it to Pat.

Also there's a quote from Pat saying something like "Put the gun away before somebody gets hurt." As if he's their father!!! :D Imagine some Sky News reporter asking a Palestinian to stop "brandishing" his machine gun, lol. Is there not some unwritten rule about reporters not interfereing with their story, but just reporting it? eg. David Attenborough wouldn't try and scare off a vulture that's trying to eat a dying animal (I can picture him running at the bird, "YAHH! YAHH! GET OUT OF IT!")

    Just thought it was interesting...

The lower grade media (Sun/Herald/etc) will put sensational spins on things to get their thick readers attention, as is the case here.

A kid showed a gun to Pat, big f*cking deal. Gives a great impression of Moyross though, I'm sure the locals are thrilled over the whole thing.

RTE send 'El Plank' to Moyross. Methinks it was a calculated move.

neatly illustrates how much spin there is in the media though and how you shouldnt take at face value what you read in the papers. reminds me of the reporting of the ballinaboy protesters and their "violent" actions of........sitting down.:D :D cant help thinking these reporters should check out your vid on youtube of the love ulster march riots to remind em of what a violent protest is!

Thats what you get for trying to interview Willie O'Dea...

First Charlie Bird takes a hiding on O'Connell Street and now the Plank is getting a shooter waved in his face. With a bit of luck, by Christmas most of our "favourite" broadcasting entities will be too afraid to work.

Fetch me a plank, a nail and directions to Hector's house...I have a plan so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasle.

Thats what you get for trying to interview Willie O'Dea...

    Minister pulls gun on teenager:
Willy O'Dea unmasked by kids in daylight gun horror

Minister: "And I would have got away with it too only for these pesky kids pulled my crappy novelty disguise off"

The impression I get from Pat Kenny is he is away with the fairies in self righteousness land. He gives off a very biased opinion on issues discussed sometimes and I dislike the man a lot.
I may be wrong but he sometimes comes across very biased.
One thing I don't like, he never seems to let someone finish what they are saying without feeling compulsed to ask another question.

anyone who actually thinks that kids walk around Moyross brandishing guns to famous people in daylight need to be shot themselves for being such retards. it just shows how much of a gullible twit Pat Kenny is. teenagers with bulletproof vests deciding to come out to show them off for the media. yeah, good man Pat.

true, you don't generally get too many famous people wandering around Moyross though.
Possibly because they are fraid of the kids with guns.

    Actually it was around 8pm.

While there is some doubt as to whether the gun was genuine, I think the vests were real enough.

As for showing them off to celebreties with microphones, it might also show cockyness or bald face complacancy rather than retardation.
