    Hello

Myself and herself are thinking about going on a holiday to west Canada next summer for about 3 weeks, most of what I’ve found on the net involves self-drive holidays, not a good idea I think, a recipe for a holiday from hell if you ask me.

We rather do some internal flights/trains etc, one or two days driving would be ok but not 3 weeks. We plan on staying in Vancouver for a few days and doing a trip up the Rockys sightseeing etc. and places like Baniff and Jasper.

Can anyone give me a few tips, wedsites etc to help me to organise this or is the only way a package deal through a travel agent? If so any recommendations.

    Thanks

Hey I was in vancouver for the summer ith my friends.

A good website is discovervancouver.com Its kinda like Boards.ie except its to do with Vancouver.

We stayed in Vancouver for the most part but I did travel up to the Rockies twice. First to a place called Whistler which is spectacular if not a little pricey but it is a fantastic place and is world renowned (2010 winter olympics will eb taking place there)

The second place I travelled to was a national park called Nairn Falls, near the town of Pemberton (about 2 hour drive form Vancouver). This was one of the highlights of my summer. You camp underneath the stars with the sound of a river running by. This was my first time camping and in general it wouldn't be my thing but I was so glad I did it as the area is phenomenal, with scenary that is indescribable. There are many places where yo can rent camping gear very cheaply so its not difficult to organise whatsoever. I would thourgly recommended Nairn Falls.

Some of my friends travelled to Victoria adn Tofino adn came back with nothing but great stories.

I think in general British Colombia os sucha beautiful place that wherever you choose, you're sure to have a great time. Anyways, these are just my suggestions.

I used to be a travel agent in Canada when i worked there for a year until march this year so can give you some pointers.

Firstly domestic flights in Canada are not cheap, not by european standards. If you want to go by land from Toronto to Vancover the journey takes 4 days by train. Moose Travel network http://www.moosenetwork.com/regionkey.php can get you from Vancover to Banff and Calgary. FOr domestic flights check out www.westjet.ca and http://www.harmonyairways.com/ for flights
