you have to do a basic course cover law, medical, and a bit of restraint.

I did a real badly run one over 2 years ago. Did it as over of a favour to give the guy running the course, a start, as he was a friend, for 60 euro and I got a lovely cert! LOL!

IS the rate between 60 - 100 euro a night depending on who you are, you experience, and if its cash in had, or if your a being put through tax system as an employee.

I did a bit of it on and off in the past, and I found it a crap job, populated by morons. some dudes see to get a real thrill out of it though...especially when you get the black bomber jacket and get a wear the ear piece radio. LOL!

You don't have to do any course yet. Not until April 2007 in fact. Until then Doorstaff don't have to have any course, qualification or cert, although many security companies are implementing the courses well in advance. Although at the moment any security company providing Doorstaff to a premises should be registered and licensed, but not the individual Doorstaff just yet. Get onto the Private Security Authority for more information on that.

There's morons in every job, but not all Doorstaff wear the black bomber jackets, and not all get a real thrill out of it, and if they do have ear pieces it's for a fairly obvious reason.. Not wanting to turn this into a 'Doorstaff aren't all **** debate', but there's always going to be some idiots who give everyone else a bad name no matter what the job... Believe it or not there's a lot of lads, and ladies, who do it as a job, to earn a few quid, and who are very happy when a night goes by without any hassle.

Rate of pay varies from €11 to €20+ an hour, depending on whether it's a club or pub and therefore what the hours are going to be, plus how rough a door it is. The rougher the door, the more the rate will be. Also the days of cash in hand pay for Doorstaff are at an end, that's the whole point of the licensing system being brought in by the PSA, everyone will have to be registered by April 2007. Registered= on the books.
