Advice On Getting Gigs In Dublin

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get gigs for a recently-formed band (4-piece, rock) in Dublin. Played a couple of small things so far only. Is it just a matter of CDs or do you have to know someone or what? Like, you know those sort of 4 bands on the one bill type shows in TBMC? How do you get to play them?

    All advice greatly appreciated.

there's two way's really you can get in with one of the promotion groups, like gigsmart music matters, toxic nubin etc, or you can get in touch with venues yourself and book the venue for a night and put a gig keeping your takings at the door. the resources thread above has some useful phone numbers

It's always nice to go in on a venue with some bands ye know... so if you don't know any other bands then it might be an idea of going to some gigs and making contacts. A decent venue will cost you about 250 or less to rent so all you need is 50 people @ €5 and you've made you money back.

Gigsmart are pretty good for gigs in that they give a share of the profits to the bands, but be wary of "promoters" like a certain P.F. that pretty much exploit bands to line their own pockets.
Radiator gigs are also pretty good for bands starting out.
