New Sony Ad

Sony today (Tues 17 Oct) unveiled its eagerly-anticipated TV ad featuring 70,000 litres of paint exploding on a disused council block in Glasgow.
The ad, created by Fallon, required 1,700 detonators, 455 mortars, 622 bottle bombs, 65 camera positions and a crew of 200 people.

A 70-second version of the ad - aptly titled "Paint" and carrying the strapline "Colour like no other" - will make its debut TV tonight at 8.35pm on ITV1, during the Manchester United v FC Copenhagen Champions League match.

However, Sony has put the ad - the follow-up to its remarkable "Balls" ad for the Bravia television - online today for the public to get a sneak preview.

The "Balls" ad controversially missed out on the top award for TV advertising at the Cannes Festival - it went to an ad for Guinness - but did pick up the Grand Prix at the subsequent Shark Awards in Kinsale, Ireland.

Besides the online preview of the "Paint" ad, Sony has seeded clips and footage from the making of the commercial online using websites such as YouTube.
