Chorus MMDS in Drogheda

    Hi,

Got a letter in the door saying Chorus is now available in my area (Harmony Heights, opposite the CBS on the North East side of the town), I rang them up and they said it is an MMDS service... I tried getting hooked up to Sky a while back, but couldn't, as I didn't have line of sight to the satellite, and the installer wouldn't do a chimney mount. Any ideas where the MMDS "high-point" is likely to be in Drogheda? Anyone else signed up?

    Cheers

    Ewan

Not having LOS to satellite is unusual. If you can see the sunlight lighting ANYWHERE arround 11.30am this time of year, anyplace in sunlight can see the satellite..

The dish does not need to be at any particular hieght or on the house. A chimney or L mount at gutter hieght even "LOS" path over roof is easy to get installed.

Have no neighbours got MMDS? See where their dishes point. Even if a nearby street.

    Sorry for the delay.

Most (if not all) of Drogheda's MMDS comes from Mt. Oriel. All the antennae point north-west towards the hill and our neighbours here in the countryside get MMDS from there. It's about 8 miles from Drogheda, beyond Collon.

I expect Harmony Heights would have LOS (to Chorus) as, as the name suggests, the estate is relatively high up. I thought Digital MMDS was available in Drogheda for at least 7 years.

If it's possible, I would get another Sky installer. The only thing to the southeast of the housing estate is the single-storey school or the creche beside it. Though there is the odd tree in the housing estate...

I'm pretty sure houses in Harmony Heights have Sky already. Have a look and see how it was installed.
