About time we had a thread on these guys, I reckon. Any thoughts?

Their gig in Temple Bar Music Centre earlier this year was one of the best I've heard (and seen) in years.

If you're looking for a place to start, check out the first track on their "Vision Creation Newsun" album (on Warners Brothers Japan, remarkably...)

I much prefer the older Boredoms releases, the more noisey and spazzmatic ones like, 'Onanie Bomb meets the Sex Pistols', 'Soul Discharge', 'Pop Tatari', and 'Chocolate Synthesizer' to name a few. The new Boredoms material, although I do enjoy, just does not have the same magic for me. There has actually been a heated debate on the Boredoms Yahoo group as of late that expresses this issue of old vs. new Boredoms.

Many of Eyes side projects are well worth the listen too if your into the older spazzy material, check out 'UFO or Die' or 'Hanatarash'

I have to say I prefer the later, more psychedelic stuff. The likes of "Chocolate Synthesizer" (great title) sometimes leave me dazzled but other times leave me cold. I think that kind of thing is hard to dig on a hi-fi system in a "domestic" context.

Most of the set they played live in Dublin was of the later style. In particular, much of it sounded like the title track on "Sea Drum" - incredibly invigorating but generally pretty linear. I'd love to see them doing the spazzier stuff live.

I'd also prefer Chocolate Synthesiser, A friend introduced me to it, and I just remember thinking ''This. Is. Insane'' during Acid Police.
    Classic.
