My partner brought his Motorola Razr with him from the USA.
Closed his account with his provider over there (T-Mobile) and wants to use it here with a Vodafone Sim.
However, when we put in the sim, it gives us the splashscreen then says "Enter Subsidy Password" which he has never heard of before.
    Any ideas?

I believe that means that the phone is locked onto the network, probably T-Mobile so you will have to get it unlocked.

As with the providers here, the phone he bought in the US was probably bought cheap with a contract... thing is..... the Phone companies ''subsidise'' the cost of the handsets, and get their money back on the call charges etc.. get yourself a copy of the buy and sell,, theres always a cowboy in there advertising to unlock mobile phones for a tenner.... ( the cost of which would probably get you two new NOKIAS with contracts etc...........
