Lost Property in Taxis

I was wondering if there is any official medium for trying to locate an item that was possibly left in a Taxi in Dublin on Friday night?

I know the chance of recovery is slim but does anyone know if there is any procedure in place for trying to chase up lost items.

    Thanks!

Wee tip if you have lost property in a taxi...

If there is any half decent identifying feature of the taxi that you may recall, eg the drivers name, a type of car etc, let the guys in Dublin Castle know. If you can narrow it down, it increases greatly your chance of getting anything back if the Gardas in the Carraige Offfice know that they can try ring owners of a certain type car for you. Mind you, they won't pull out the stops for something unless it is valuable or essential to find but still worth a try.
