any one out there apply for a new heard no. recently? what all is involved? Is seven acres the min limit? do you have to own it or just have right to work it? Do you need your own crush even if you have permission to use one on neighbouring farm? Thanks in advance.

Ring the dept of agriculture and food, (for mayo 094 903 5300) for exact details of requirements.

Minimum is a crush, a holding area and a covered shed for a sick animal. also stockproof fencing next to road. Troughs need to be out from hedgerows and raised to 2 foot, due to department fixation with badgers and TB. Don't know on minimum for area. A requirement of heard no is herd will not mix with other herds, so no go on using neighbours crush.

thanks oldtree will do that. I was just wondering how strict they were with the inspection but I guess it depends on the official.
