Any other advice on how to find a good set? whats the best weight chips to get & best cards?

Much appreciated lads if you can help

Looks like a bit of a Homer present. When he gets Marge a bowling ball.

how much are the sets on Ebay? A friend got a very good 500 set on ebay. good weight and quaility. But it was a once off sale, not from one of the "shops" that use it.

The postage cost on ebay will bulk it up alot.
Try the special days shop out in liffey valley.
Try do a wide range from cheap to expensive. Good to bad.
    What weights do people prefere.
I find my set a little light. It said it was 10g, but it was cheap and might not be that at all.

Pay for her buy in into a casino tournie if she hasn't been before. For someone whos getting hooked by poker this will seal the deal!

Also the Fitz used to sell dicounted (reasonable) poker chips sets to members.

check out http://www.thesportshq.com . Even with delivery and conversion it works out cheaper than an equivalent set here.

There is a UK site called drinkstuff.com that sell all sorts of poker gear. They have some nice looking ceramic chips in / or on the way. I bought four packs of KEM cards last week. The shipping charges are reasonable (less than an arm and a leg, say half an arm).

And for yourself you can get a Vicky Pollard outfit. :)

The KEM cards should last longer than most relationships - cellulose acetate or somthing like that. Big index numbers, although the pictures on the court cards are a bit plain.

Paulson James Bond chips are reputed to be the best, but I have never seen them for sale on this side of the pond.

This sounds like a thinly veiled brag post that the OP has a girlfriend!
specialdays.ie has always been good to the poker forum.

I'm off for dinner now with someone who is not a male..

Paulson chips are ment to be the nicest available. They're pretty expensive tho.

Another option would be get customised chips. Here's a page of how to go about this: http://www.homepokertourney.com/chips-hpt.htm
