Does anyone know if the toshiba Gigabeat S 30GB is going to be on sale in ireland anytime soon? It only seems to be available in the US. Also does anyone know how it compares to the ipod or i audio?

well I'd say its a good option, although I don't know if it will come to ireland, you could try contacting toshiba. there is a problem with it though - the battery life - only 12h for audio & 2.5h for video.

It was a good idea to contact toshiba but they never got back to me at all! I'll try some irish or Uk suppliers, they could know. I might just have to settle for an ipod in the end!

I work in Harvey Norman, and we probably could get the Gigabeat if we wanted, but it looks like we're sticking with Apple, Creative and Samsung as our primary brands for MP3's for the next while anyway.

Its on sale on expansys.ie It turns out the Toshiba is a UMS device which is a real pity. Maybe an i audio or ipod would be the best option after all.

Sorry i meant to say that it isnt UMS. I was hoping it would be UMS. Are many mp3 players UMS or am i being to fussy in looking for UMS? The gigabeat S 30Gb is 290 on expansys.ie & the 60Gb is 385. It has a nice large screen and is still smaller than the new video ipod.
