    Ad in this mornings papers
"Ryanair up to 50% off our lowest fares"

    Absolute rubbish.
I have been tracking some flights to Spain next year over the last few weeks and found this morning the following.

    Last week flight out/back was 0.99 X2 + taxes.
The price of the return leg has gone down from 0.99cents to 0.49cents.
No arguments there but the flight out has gone up from 0.99 cents to
39.99 Euro so they knock off .49 cents one part and add 39 Euro to the other.

Unfortunately that's how airline pricing works, just have to get used to it, no point in getting upset! Ryanair have done far worse things than that when it comes to pricing and taking money off people.

It's frustrating, but not much we can do.

Just out of interest, why didn't you snap up the flights for €0.99?!

Boss isn't back from holidays for another 2 days so couldn't book them
until he gives me the time off :o

Of course, considering that the taxes are around the €40 mark or so, reducing the price from 99c to 49c is hardly 'Up to 50% off', considering the price goes from about €40.99 to €40.49!

Though, I suppose 1.22% is still 'up to 50%'!

It didn't take long for one of those responses.

Oki, I'd say what happened was that all the 99c seats were bought, not every seat on the plane will go for 99c only a certain number, perhaps this offer just coincided with all the 99c outbound flights being sold.

What i can't take is the fact that if you you're going on holidays and choose to fly with Ryanair, you can't take what you should have the right to take with you i.e. a decent sized bag/rucksack, without having to pay €4 for it online, or €10 at the airport (when you've been told that it's too big for bringing on with you).

    it's absolutely disgraceful.

in effect, to avail of so-called low fares, you have to go on holidays and wear the same clothes every day for 2 weeks and not bring a towel!

Up to 50% off their lowest fares amounts to discounting the 0.99 cents
and under by 50% so in effect it costs them nothing and saves you nothing

You have the right to take what it says on their terms - 15 kg. If you want to bring the kitchen sink, fly with someone else.

    Not anymore Padraig!

you have to pay for everything you check-in now, regardless of size

Aer Lingus is going down the charging-for-checked-baggage route now too, but they do seem to have a bit more consistency in their prices.
