Thats only a wireless access point, for someone who already has a router or switch. (though a decent one).

    look at these

You need one with Ethernet WAN port, not DSL port.

Using the Netgear WPN824 on the same package as you and no probs. Will need to get a compatible rangemax card to enjoy the full benefit though.

thanks for the recommendations guys. what kind of speeds are you getting from these routers? is it worth spending more to get one thats 108Mbps? maybe one like this http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=319195

the 108Mbps MIMO routers are only worth while if you have more than 2 wireless clients, or two or more clients that go at different speeds AND your own LAN/Server/Shared printer etc.

One 11Mbps client or two 22Mbps or 3 x 54MBps clients can still go faster than the 3Mbps internet.

    This one http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=319195

is not MIMO, so if one or more WiFi clients are slower than 108Mbps (i.e. 11 , 22, or 54) that is the maximum speed.

Is MIMO, so can support 11Mbps & 54Mbps at same time. There are very few existing Laptops with 108Mbps or MIMO. It is also dual band.

I tried a 108Mbps non-MIMO upgrade of my internal WiFi card but XP kept freezing and it won't work with Ubuntu (though you can see the Access Point).

Any of these three Routers are OK, but for one or two WiFi users the 1st

is fine. The 3rd I mention is a big jump in price if you don't need the features.

Even on my 11Mbps WiFi, if it is the only client using the Internet I get the full Metro speed. If you had 8M Metro you would want a 54Mps laptop as 11Mbps WiFi probabily tops out around 4Mbps.
