East Coast Vs. West Coast, Biggie and Tupac and now EC Vs. 110th Street over one hard rocking Royal Rumble weekend in Dublin and Galway (and a stop off for some breakfast in Horse & Jockey). This Thursday, SiSi are playing in our house. Cian Ó Cíobháin and Cyril Briscoe have been wigging the Galway public out with their 110th St. and Boogaloo nights for almost 8 years now. Guests as varied as Erol Alkan, 2ManyDJs, Andrew Weatherall, Boys Noize, Optimo (Wilkes), Justice from Paris, Mu (Output Recordings), DJ Naughty & The Glimmers have all been brought out west by these guys for block-rocking parities.
Their sets since 2002 have drawn primarily on an electro-house sound, with nu-disco, punk-funk & techno as well as a few indie anthems and an occasional camp 80's tune in the mix: their main aim has been to fuse together all the sounds that make them groove, but with a firm party aesthetic. Cyril and Cian use the name SiSi for their studio productions. They have re-edited and remixed tracks by Vitalic, Radioslave, Justice V Simian, The Japanese Popstars, In Flagranti, Bunny Lake, Underworld, Doves, Mylo, Martin Hornveth, Captain Comatose & Riton. Cian's radio show 'An Taobh Tuathail' on Radio na Gaeltachta is one of our favourites and its choice selection of up front cuts and lost classics make it essential listening for all.
It is our great pleasure to have these guys come to play at Electric City and we know that their style is going to make it a rocking night in Wax. As part of this cultural initiative, EC residents, Simon & Giles will be heading back to Galway to play 110th Street at the Vic for the first in a series of 'EC on Tour' nights which will be hitting Cork in November. Please join us and SiSi for what will be a great night of music to shake the EC dancefloor. EC resident Barry Donovan will be opening the night with a diamond selection of italo tracks.
