Aren’t you meant to face oncoming traffic while walking?

If out on the streets you should make you self as visible as possible.

Presumably where there is no footpath! If there is a footpath on one side, it should be used regardless of direction of travel.

It doesn't matter what you do in this country if you are a pedestrian.

I try my best to resist the urge to J walk, but I find I'm just as likely to be mown down when I cross at a proper crossing when the light is green.

Just last week I was half way across a crossing in Drumcondra when some pig ignorant c*nt ran the red light came flying around the corner and nearly ran me over, I pointed at the green light (this isn't the first time this has happened to me so I was pretty pissed off) and she had the nerve to pull faces at me and wave her arms around!! I gave her the finger (again I don't normally behave this way :o ) I could see her still waving her arms aound at me driving down the road the ignorant bitch.

As the green light doesn't stay green for long enough to cross the road at a reasonable pace at most crossings, I am often inclined to run across, Thankfully I hadn't that day or I would've been hit by her.

I am also almost hit by cyclists speeding out from behind a bus to go across the crossing at least four times a week!!! They don't even care.

Well maybe not. Joggers (in the interests of maintaining pace) are more likely to avoid an obstacle by jumping onto the road without looking.

I'm not saying I know this for a fact, just speculating as to a possible reason.

You can report the drivers to TrafficWatch (1890-205-805). They do follow up (I'm off to make a statement on Tuesday wrt some red light running at Cross Guns Bridge).
As it is a regular occurance, you can contact Sgt McConalogue of the Traffic Corps in Santry. IIRC his division probably covers Drumcondra.
I had a meeting with him recently after I wrote to the Assistant Commissioner, complaining that Gardai were not following up on my TrafficWatch reports.
Feel free PM me with details of the junction and I'll also report incidents to Santry.
