International football will be destroyed if Belgian club Charleroi win a landmark court case, says European football's governing body Uefa.

Charleroi are suing world body Fifa after player Abdelmajid Oulmers was injured playing for Morocco in 2004.

Few countries could fund national teams if Charleroi won, Uefa told BBC Sport.

A spokesman said: "It would be the end of the national team game. A World Cup would take place with only Spain, Germany, Italy, France and England."

Im quite happy this is happening, i prefer to see players who want to play for Ireland rather than english players who it is good for their impending transfers to play international football. FAs will ask players to sign "not getting paid " contracts and international football will be restored to players who want to play for their country
and ***** who **** off and play for the cash.

How many EL players be in that squad :D

Perhaps this might lead to UEFA/FIFA spreading a bit more of that Euros/World Cup money around? Or even cutting out the pointless games in the International calendar? One can hope!

Simple solution to this. Make the players themselves pay some nominal insurance out of their wages. The amount they pay could be in-line with with what they earn so a guy playing for Bohemians wouldn't have to pay as much as a guy from Chelsea and compensation would reflect what the clubs loss in monetary terms as they are the ones setting the wages. On top of all that making a player take the hit would be a perfect way of testing how interested in international footy he actually is.

Although that said the thought that 'we would never see Robbie Keane playing for Ireland again' does become increasingly more appealing with each passing season.

The fact that £130,000-a-week superstar Michael Ballack has moaned about house prices in London suggests that asking players to pay to play for their country mightn't be such a "simple solution".

It is a good solution though.

    Ryan €350
    Heary Hawkins Gavin Cahill €4k?
    Deery Mulcahy Fahey Duffy €2k?
    Byrne Hynes €2k?

    €8350 weekly

    Given €50k
O Shea Mc Shane Dunne Finnan €200k?
Duff Reid Carsely Mac Geady €150k?
    Keane Doyle €70k?

    €470,000 weekly

FAI in in player picking Shocker, manager leaves in disgust :D

This is the beauty of it tho. With all the talk this week of who was commited to playing for Ireland and who was only there to fatten up their CV this would soon sort who from who.

You hear a guy who earns 150k a week is too cheap to shell out a few quid (at least to him) to play for his county and joe public knows where he stands with this player right away.

Nice logic we would probably get him back on a free transfer 12 months later again

also I hope this case isnt won by G14 ive always disliked the big clubs attitute towards international football
