December for Hols? Good or bad!

    Normally I take my hols in July but I’m giving serious consideration to taking a break in December, thinking about heading to Australia for three weeks arriving back in the big smoke on xmas eve.
    Is this an insane time of the year to head off?
    I’m young free and single so bringing sprigs to see santa isn’t a factor…but I suppose I’ll miss the insanity of the xmas party season!
    Anyone done it..headed off that time of the year?

    I spent last Christmas and new years with my gf in the south of Spain and it was great fun – although a little strange walking around on Christmas day in shorts.

    I guess that Oz would be deadly - no comparison really, Auntie Maggie in her tweeds pulling the cheeks off you and asking you when you are going to get yourself a girlfriend or some girl called Ruthie in a thong on Bondi carving the turkey* :D


    *not having been in Oz this image may have escaped from the fantasy realm ;)

    Going myself this year. Xmas in Oz and New Year in NZ. Cant wait.

    was in Oz for christmas a few years back now - it was brilliant the pubs never close!!!! everything still runs and opens on christmas day mind you we had hailstone and a gale force wind, but it was the best christmas of my life - go for it
