Asking this on request of someone else.

Has anyone bought from ASOS.com? They accepted an order and they e-mailed us saying the bank has not giving enough information and they require a passport / driving license and VISA statement.
If you do not hold a UK Driving License or UK Passport we will require the following information by fax or email*:

    * A recent copy of the Bank statement for the card used to place your order

    * Copy of driving licence or passport

*Please either fax the additional information to *** or scan the document, saving it as a jpeg or gif file, and send it to us by replying to this e-mail.

(Once the security checks are completed the information supplied is destroyed.)

Anyone else experienced this? Seems a bit fishy to me!

Becoming common enough these days for companies to do that validation thing, hopefully some other boardsies have shopped there before and can let you know.

Yep.. it's not for me anyways (unless ASOS.com sell beer and porn.. hold on, i'll check.. no, they don't!).

It's for my sister.. but she's a bit wary of sending personal information like that away.. as you should.

So any fellow Boardsies experience this??

ASOS is a fairly reputible retailer, and it's not that uncommon to have to provide this sort of ID for verification and authorisation
