    Hi,
I applied for a technical writing postion at SAP, Galway a couple of months ago. I have now been called to do a technical writing test. Does anyone know what this test involves and how i might prepare? Thanks!

Never done one of these test but here's some technical writing tips i've picked up:
    • Why? - do you know why you are writing the document? if not, stop and decide what the purpose of it is
    • Who? - who is going to read the report? an engineer, a programmer, an integrator, a marketer or a stockbroker
    • Scope? - how much (or little) detail matters? for example, if you're talking about a supermarket supply chain management system, you're not going to talk about the receipt printer layout
    • A good summary - or maybe more, depending on who the report is designed for, you might have a scientific and a business summary
    • A good abstract - depending on confidentiality or other matters an abstract is all that some people might read, at least then they know the document exists and what it covers
    • Length - say what you have to say as concisely and clearly as possible, then STOP.
    • Correct Punctuation - punctuation can change the whole purpose of a sentence, or the implied importance of any fact. Watch those commas!
