I can eel the itch of tension already building, every scrap of info being digested as fast as I can read it, maybe even selling the PSP and games to fund it, anyone else can't wait Nintys new slab of gaming goodness? Or is there something about the whole project that just doesn't sit right with you?

Don't really need it to be honest... I want one and have prebooked one with Zelda & Warioware, not much else I can do apart from wait now.

I don't need it per sé, but I want it!!

Roll on December 8th! With this and my 360 purchased at the end of this month, I'll be a happy man!!

i must play Zelda. I'm counting down the days now.

Need/want because of Twilight Princess tbh.

If Zelda was only released on the Cube, I probably would have just taken a "wait-and-see" approach with the Wii until it had proved itself.

    Need Zelda.

I want it but I'm not preordering it. If I don't get it, it won't bother me. Mostly because Metroid Prime isn't there at launch. Some of the other launch games look great but I don't need them and I can pick them up later anyway.

    Need Zelda.

I have pre ordered the console...I haven't ordered any games..

Is that a mistake do you think?

And the Wii is a christmas pressie from my gf, that mean I have to wait even longer to play it...:(

I want one really bad - but it seems October 2006 was a bad year to pick to go travelling if you're a gamer.

Headin off in thirteen days and unless I'm flush enough to pick one up in Australia I doubt i'll be seeing much next gen technology until xmas 2008 :(

Even if those rumours are correct, I'm pretty sure it refers only to direct sunlight - i.e. the type of glare producing sunlight which makes watching tv / playing games a pain in the arse anyway.

I've always been a fan of Nintendo games so I would have bought this thing regardless. Really looking forward to it though :)

    Pre-ordered with Zelda.

The more I see the more I want, just got a HD tv though and its kinda just hitting me now how nice that might have been, that said the GC looks just fine playing on it, although that depends on the title too, R:Racing looks crap, Kirbys AirRide look better on the big screen, go figure!
Still can't wait to play Mario Galaxy and ExciteTruck, I have never finished a Zelda game and truthfully that probably won't change any time soon and had it been a GC only title, probably won't have minded, on that score we will know soon enough if the Wiimote really adds enough to the game to warrant a new system.
Really though I want Wii Sports and Wii Play so I can finally get my games hating wife to play Nintendo with me!

I've rearranged my sitting room already so I've a nice open space in front of my 42" plasma......so yeah, after that I think I may need one! :D

In fact, as I said to the good lady in Smyths....I'm BURSTING for a Wii!

D'you think that'll work? Jaysus, it'd make my life so much easier if my girlfriend would actually play games too! I tried getting her involved with a 2 player mario kart a couple of weeks back...didn't really work out....I read recently that the Japanese have a word for trying to enjoy a two player game with someone who is crap at it!

Anyway, i'm about as close to needing this console as I could possibly be.
I'm having a little trouble enjoying my regular games at the moment, cos they have, well, a REGULAR controller.

I haven't wanted any console this much since the SNES.

I got Wario Ware for DS and one of the girls I lived with now has the high score with the Wario characters mini-games and I can't beat it. The DS works fo getting people that wouldn't normally play games to play games.

I moved house afterward and the girl in the next house was the exact same. Had never played games since Mario on NES/SNES or whatever but used to go mad for Wario Ware Touched because it was so easy to play.

Two girls I live with also went nuts for Super Monkey Ball Bowling mini game on Gamecube.

Dude, I know there are girls who like games, i'm just saying that my girlfriend doesn't.

Maybe it's my own fault. I might be paying for that time i said "Hey, sweetheart, let's have a nice romantic six hour session of Resident Evil".

I knew that was a bad idea.

I find people who don't like games is mainly down to ignorance and not ever playing a game before. The DS is perfect because some of the games on it are so easy to use that it completely sidesteps the learning curve and you are enjoying it immediately.

Nintendo have been going on and on about bringing 'non-gamers' to the table, and I think they might be onto something with the Wii. I'm honestly thinking that this could be something even my mother would use.

Think about it : even before you get to the games, the Wii is so small and cute that it's not going to make much of an impact sitting beside the TV -- a 'good thing', the mother hates wires and doesn't think much of big techno boxes of the PS3 / Xbox / PC variety.. but the Wii? not threatening in the least.

Then you have the Wiimote. I don't think I have to reiterate just how cool that thing could be.. and now my mother can pick up a very simple looking remote control and use Opera to surf the web from the couch, by simply pointing and clicking. It couldn't be easier, and I think she'd like that.

And - I think very interestingly - she could buy herself a Wiimote of her own. Save her own settings and a Mii on there. She'd like that too -- probably get a kick out of owning a bit of nifty tech she can brag about and show off to her friends. Exactly the type of consumer that won't need a nun-chuck attachment tbh.

From there you never know, she may even try out a simple game or two.. or even just use the Wii channels to connect with friends, check the weather, share photos, etc., all with perfect ease and a totally intuitive point and click interface.

I'll see myself on December 8th whether or not the Wii's as good as it sounds. If it is I think I'll be buying another one for the home-house for Christmas, along with a couple of extra Wiimotes for my mum and two younger sisters.

The "hardcore" graphics junkie gamer might like a PS3, but I doubt the family would even appreciate such a confusing monstrosity of a machine. Though I'm willing to bet the Wii has a totally different sort of appeal to it. It'll get Retr0gamer's ignorant non-gamer types to finally pick up a controller and join in the fun. And that's another "good thing".

And for the rest of us, of course, there's Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Monkey Ball, etc.. and a totally new way of playing them all.

    Can't wait :D

I'm really looking forward to the Wii, but not just as a lure for my non-gaming firends, already got them into it with Mario Kart Double Dash and Super Smash Bros.

I'm not busrting for a wii just yet because I can only see one game that interests me at launch at the moment.
    ZELDA

but then I can't wait for super smash brothers

Regarding my wife and games, I think I may have told her tale before but a rather poor loser of a boyfriends jealous streak removed any love or appreciation of gaming, before that she had won a Nes in a comp and loved DuckHunt, so in this instance it was more his problem of being beaten by a girl that resulted in the trouble, his notions of what girls should be good at, this left a bitter taste in her mouth and to this day she dislikes the whole scene, kinda unfortunate then that she is married to a game freak then!
As for the Wii, need it as soon as possible, as the date of launch approaches I just get more and more anxious!
So little info being released though, no sign of a launch day line up, which is a pain certainly.
