dvdrw no longer reading cdrom

    titel says it all, my dvdrw has stopped playing cds and cdroms.

    and ideas?

    no, it can only read dvds, this all started after a failed burn...

    well, that wouldn't explain why it still reads dvds though.

    its about 7 months old

    True, did you try different brands of discs when burning or the same one all the time? That can be an issue sometimes.

    used all the same ones, i burnt about 6-7 in a row, so im thinking i have done hardware damage rather than something software related.
