As far as Im concerned if you're called for an interview they're generally happy with your experience and it's simply your chance to show them that you're right for the job. For the likes of PC World, show your enthusiasm for technology and show them that you can relate that enthusiasm to customers. If they can see that you have the building blocks of good selling skills they'll be more likely to think: "Well this guy may have no sales experience but we can train him to do it our way."

Other than that, think of a few scenarios such as when you've had to work under pressure, when you've had conflicts with colleagues/management and how they were resolved, things like that. You're guaranteed to get one or two "scenario" questions like this.

Don't put yourself down by highlighting your lack of experience, but rather phrase it in a positive way like "This would be a move into a new industry for me but I'm confident that I can adapt to the new situation and to the company culture without any problems." etc etc.

    Good luck!

Wexcan has indeed hit many nails on the head there!

With a job like that they will want to see enthusiasm x 100 although if you come in fired up on red bull they might look at you wierdly :p

The other thing with face to face sales is the ability to communicate well and show a passion for customer service.

Be ready to spout loads of generic phrases like...

'I want to be in a position where a customer can walk up to me, ask me any question about a PC/laptop/printer and I'll be confident in providing them with any information required. I look forward to the training that you will provide me with as I have a passion for new technology and am eager to know more about the latest products.'

Everyone likes to hear that from an employee.

    Best of luck! :D
