Hi, I am looking for a movie from the 80's, was told its name once but was nursing a flaggen of cider at the time so!?

Local anti-hero returns to home town in a pink cadillac and meats the girl of his dreams, gets in trouble with local bad guy, saves girl and all the usual pure 80's rubbish, tongue firmly in cheek all the way through the film.
Carries baseballbat and shotgun in boot of car and wears a leather jacket all through film.
Typicall industrial US city scape of 80's movies, Local orential brothers who learned all their english from american television sports commentary (and speak that way) always looking to drag race him.
Lead actor looked like Bruce Boxleitner but wasnt.

Was on a list of top 100 cult movies in a mag some years ago, kinda film Alex Cox used to show on BBC2 years ago

    any ideas?

That bit is also in a John Cusack film called 'Better Off Dead' but I can't help you with the rest of it.

Was'nt even released in Europe. But I don't think Alex Cox Videodrome slot would have shown that flick somehow.

OMG! How dissapointing was that?! The first Walter Hill movie to leave me cold - sadly not the last.

Well maybe its aged well, but at the time (bearing in mind all Hills previous flicks) it was a deffo let-down, his usually gritty subjects and style replaced by a glossy musical with bad AOR and hair!
