if anyone can answer this i'll be real pleased.
Basically my monitor starts fine(17" tft year old) everything works and then out of nowhere and generally after a screensaver or game, the screen goes black and there's these lines, 3 of them usually, that kinda look like the desktop but they're too messed up to make out. So i turn off my computer and when i turn it back on the monitor says optimum resolution 1280X1024. This is the resolution i always run my computer and because i can't get into my computer i have to hook up another monitor and it works fine. I then start up my pc and reset the resolution despite the fact the majority of the time its at the requested resolution. The monitor then works again but this keeps happening and tonight was the 8th time.
I'm pretty sure its not my graphics card cause it works on the other monitor and so does the cable and connection on the graphics card. I think its the monitor but i'm not 100% can someone tell me whats missing link in this?

All the drivers are the most recent so they're not the problem either.
    thanks
    requ1em:)

It could be the VGA cable, not entirely sure. Try it at a lower resolution for a while and see if there is any difference.

Thank God - I'm not the only one. I have *exactly* the same symptoms as you report. Syncmaster 710T, just over a year old, working fine until last week, then exactly as you describe ! - I'm running XP and Fedora Core 5 on separate boxes and get exactly the same from each box on the monitor. This is really pissing me off.

I've emailed Samsung tech support, I'll let you know what they say.

Call Samsung Ireland on 0818 717100 and they'll arrange a swap-out for your faulty 710T.

They seemed, umm, not too surprised at my fault report and offered a swap out immediately. 5 - 10 working days.

Was just about to say. They are dodgy monitors, well known for their problems.
