blue screen error help!!

    ok..so power failure in the house last night and pc turned itself off..went to use it this morning and now have a blue screen error.

    win2000 professional - error 0x0000007B INNACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

    it blue screens when i try and boot up in safe mode
    last known good config. blue screens too

    have not installed any new hardware recently, have unplugged a usb game device and tried to restart but still blue screens

    oh, and i dont have a windows disk.

    any suggestions apprectiated.

    Sounds like something got damaged by the outage. Have you tried taking the HDD out and trying it in another machine? Or changing the connecting cable for another, known working one? Have you tried booting from any bootable CD at all (you can download bootable Linux disks that could help assess what got damaged, and might even help repair it)?

    Sorry Christybrown, but you're going to need a Win 2k disc. You need to run the recovery console from it at least. At worst a reinstall.

    Thanks for the help lads - I reckon it was a power surge not a power failure and somethings been fried - should be able to get my hands on win2k disc - ill try that
