Just saw an ad for this on TV.

It looks like a HC magazine type programme with Hook and Popey

    Wednesday 7pm RTE2

Anyone know more about it, is it a 30min show ?

RTE don't have live HC anymore, but this is a great idea.

Pope and Hook are great combo.

Hooke and Popey rule, my fave sports combo on all channels.

Some of you culchies are now lucky enough to catch their Fri show on Newstalk. If you are a fan and have not caught it do!

More Heineken Cup coverage than ever For RTE
    13 October 2006, 11:19 am
George Hook and Brent Pope hit the road to meet grassroot Heineken Cup supporters in new TV Show, as part of RTE's Heineken Cup coverage.
In this new television programme, beginning on Wednesday 18th October on RTÉ Two, George Hook and Brent Pope visit rugby clubs around Ireland stimulating impassioned debate and discussion on the Heineken Cup with the grassroots supporters.

Each programme will be broadcast live from a different rugby club from around Ireland where special guests and the live audience will join our inimitable hosts to discuss and debate the burning issues surrounding the latest Heineken Cup action. One thing is for certain, it won’t be just Hook and Pope doing the talking! In honour of the reigning Heineken Cup champions, the first show will be broadcast live from the Young Munster Rugby Football Club in Limerick.

"The Heineken Cup Roadshow with Hook and Pope" is sponsored by Heineken. Pat Maher, National Events and Sponsorship Manager, Heineken said, "Heineken are proud to sponsor this new programme as it will offer rugby and sports fans a different viewpoint and greater expression of what is happening in the tournament. The programme is a very welcome addition to the already comprehensive focus on The Heineken Cup."

Ryle Nugent, Commissioning Editor, RTÉ Television Sport said: "We are delighted to launch this programme as part of RTÉ’s Heineken Cup coverage this year and look forward to sharing the passion for the Heineken Cup with the grassroot supporters around Ireland".

"The Heineken Cup Roadshow with Hook and Pope” begins on Wednesday 18th October at 7pm on RTÉ Two as part of RTÉ’s Heineken cup coverage.

RTÉ Radio 1 will provide comprehensive live coverage of the Heineken Cup throughout the season with commentary from Michael Corcoran and Ciaran Fitzgerald. RTÉ Radio 1’s live coverage begins on Saturday 21st October at 5.30pm, with Leinster v Gloucester live from Landsdowne Road.

RTÉ Television will broadcast extended highlights of all of Munster and Leinster’s Heineken Cup games both home and away. Presented by Tom McGurk, the television coverage will also feature in-depth analysis of each of these games with our unrivalled team of panellists which includes; Brent Pope, George Hook, Ciaran Fitzgerald and Conor O'Shea.

RTÉ Television's Heineken Cup coverage begins on Saturday 21st October at 9pm on RTÉ Two, with extended highlights and analysis of Leinster v Gloucester. Commentary by Ryle Nugent and Tony Ward.

Doesn't say how long the show is, anyone have a weekly times with more info ?
It's a shame the games aren't live but radio commentary and delayed coverage with McGuirk/Pope/Hook isn't so bad, especially for those of us who will get to the home games, and can relive the game afterwards :)

Would you listen to Stuart Barnes, Sky + RTE Radio(Ciaran Fitzgerald) is a good solution.

I'll be at the Leinster game, and home for the highlights, and it's ManU V Liverpool on Sunday with the Munster game delayed on RTE @ 7pm Sunday as well.

Not a bad weekend of sport.

I am reliably informed by someone in the sponsors (Heineken) camp that it's on for half an hour this week from 7pm and will be on for an hour from 8pm most other weeks - except for one week in December when there's a Champions League match on and it will be back to 7pm then...

The programme is being aired from Barnhall this week...

I thought they said Blackrock ?

Anyway, if they pack it with highlights from HEC week 1, hopefully there won't be enough time for H&P to do their shtick. I hope they show Trevor Brennan & Justin Harrison doing their balroom dancing routuine from Ravenhill ;)

Stand to be corrected on that one TarfHead...you may be right.

Didn't get to see the Ulster game last Friday evening so missed Trev & Harrison auditioning for Strictly Come Dancing.

that must of been the most painful thing I have ever watched in my life. Really bad, terrible questions asked and no good answers given. The only good part was gerry thornley speaking the rest of it was like pulling teeth. Think they were trying to copy the bbc thing they did a while ago which was much better. George Hook may be good at commentating but he definately doesnt have the skills to put on a show like this

I watched this the other night and thought it was complete pants as well. Theyre a good combo on the panel during matchday, but this type of programme doesnt work at all. Would like to see a show maybe where someone goes to Toulouse, Leicester, and maybe big Southern Hemisphere clubs and meet the players and fans of those clubs and get an insight into how those clubs operate etc. Or else just show lots more highlights from Heine/Magners and/or big rugby games from around the world which would be much more interesting and beneficial to the rugby fan wanting to keep abreast!!!

Ive only seen it the once but I don't rate it either. The analysis is half-arsed, and there's too much reliance on the audience. The people who seem to speak up from the audience tend to be full of ****, and this show proved it.

If you're going to have Gerry Thornley in the crowd, why not give him a seat and bring him into the show? There was never any point in having Rolland there, referees will fence-sit by nature. At the moment it's unfunny comedy.

Terrible rubbish, awful pauses before links, and Hook is transfixed by the autocue. A real missed opportunity.

    'They're shouting in my ear....'

Don't think it's on until the Wednesday before the next HC round (9th dec)

it was a funny bit were on of the guys from ulster said their was not enough "Protestants" on the Irish team rather than saying Ulster men, Bit of a freuding slip

Heads up, this is on tonight at 8-9pm on RTE2

It's worth watching if only for Hooks ineptitude at presenting or dealing with the 'voices in his ear'

You said it! This show would have more crediblility if it classed itself as comedy rather than a sports programme.

This really is a missed opportunity by RTÉ to put on a decent midweek rugby show but instead they only have it on when there's Heineken Cup rugby, plus the fact that it's cringeable tv at its finest. RTÉ seem to be a bit like Sky in their attitude to rugby, if they don't show it then the competition doesn't really exist in their eyes.

this show could be good if there was a middle man hook and pope work better when they give their opinions and they really lack credibility asking q's because you know they have good opinons on the question. A panel show would be much better with a straight guy in there not tom mcgurk or ryle nugent though they both truely suck...
