Criminals playing poker?

Ok, this is a pet peeve of mine, and since I wasted one thread asking about polls I am putting up this extremely important question.

Are there criminals playing poker? Who is to say that a 'villian' is indeed a bad guy? Why can they not be an opponent just? I must know what majority of people believe in 'villians' playing poker.

If you only read but this terminology annoys you, then vote. If you just read but you don't mind this, then vote too.

What type of people play in hands against you? 26 votes

    Yes they are villians

No they should just be opponents

Yeah it annoys me as well. Though when I posted a hand history recently and called the opponent 'Player X' instead of 'Villain' it created a bit of a misunderstanding :)

Its used for a reason. All of the players in the hand are your opponnents, the villain is the one that takes centre stage.

Calling yourself the hero annoys me more than referring to your opponent as the villain.

Speaking of criminals playing poker...Anybody notice the increase of Russians playing in the last year - well on Party anyway, particularly last few months. The way some of these guys play sometimes particularly in pot limit omaha as if a few k chips means denada I reckon some of these guys r Russian Mafia having a bit of fun - some serious head cases in the way they play da game anyways.

If you're from Limerick giving an honest answer could get you into a lot of trouble.

Villain doesn't actually mean criminal but its latin origin is cooler than that because it kinda means peasant :)
Obviously its only used cause villain is the antithesis of hero, but for HH's I much prefer the nomenclature "vigilante" and "paedophile" and I encourage everyone to use those instead!

calling other players donks or fish in HH, especially when the play is much more acquatic from the "hero", always strikes me as a bit self-centered and untrue.
