HP Printer Problem...Please Help?

    Hi

I recently bought a HP Deskjet 3920 printer for home office. Just for basic and light printing of word docs.

I am having nothing but trouble with it since I bought it, and I am using a dell laptop.

The printer has a mind of its own.

sometimes I works fine, but most of the time, it paper jams, I tried many different approaches...a few pages in feeder, more paper in feeder, etc etc..

other times I will Print a doc, and nothing happens...printer just hangs.

I have installed, and reinstalled the software. I have canceled and re started print jobs, I have turned printer on and off, (lap top too), pressed the button when light was flashing, fiddled with the paper.

Nothing is working... its very frustrating, and before I kick the thing around the room, has anyone any ideas or tips to help????

    Thanks

    M

Well if its very recent I would bring it back to where you got it. You seem to have tried pretty much all I would have done. Is it a USB connection for the printer?

    Yes, USB connection I have.

Going to try HP Support online....just in case, I missed something.

Its not like its a sophicated printer....its got just one button on the front!!!!

I never in all my years, have come across a problem, like this! The think is a few brain cells short I think!

Have you tried running it on self test? ...... it would be interesting to know if it can do lots of self test runs ok .....

I bought a HP 815c a good few years ago ...... gave loads of jam problems from day one and I finally suspected a paper guide wheel was missing ...... called everyone and was told ....oh yes its meant to be missing !!!! .... went into a PC store and asked to see the same printer ..... yep!!!!! ... it had my missing wheel fitted

that was 6 years ago ..... It's been good as gold since it was replaced .... :)
