My previous photo i-Pod has a connection at the top where the phones connect into for the i-Trip but alas my new video i-Pod has no such facility! Does anybody know what's the story here, have Apple deliberately done this so as the i-Trip will only work on older models?

that connection was for the remote. new ipods dont take the remote / old itrip connection. youll have to buy a new itrip dude.

As Ernesto said, the twin jack on the old models allowed you to use the remote and 'two-pin' model iTrip. That iTrip would work for full-size pods up to the photo model. Any of the new pods, new nanos or video ipods only have a single headphone jack meaning you have to buy an entire new iTrip (which is now digitial).

Also, there are rumours that the Nano iTrips are not working with all of the new model nanos (ie those JUST released) so anyone thinking of buying might want to check that out first. Could be just some internet scare tactics though.
