    Hi

Following on from my first post - i'm looking to take up an effective functional MA after a few years in different MA's. i've pretty much narrowed it down to Muay Thai, Judo or Krav Maga - which are all available to me - all opinions welcome

Judo - done a good bit of throwing before so should be ok

Thai - bit initimadated tbh and dont think i have the fitness required for the moment. could anyone go through what a beginners class is like?

KM - did the weekend course last year with the kravmagaireland outfit and didn't rate it too highly.

i'm based in the south, Cork area if there are any other suggestions,

    cheers

    BenZy

Thai would be my recommendation. I would imagine a beginners class would mainly involve shadow sparring, footwork and hitting pads.

No matter how in or out of shape you are when you first do something new your body is very inefficient so it will be tough. But persevere, it's well worth it.

    Thai box-kicking
    western boxing-punching
    judo-take downs
    jiu jitsu-grappling
then you have the full package.

here is the perfect place in cork for you for Thai...

    www.muaythaireland.com

Its Craig O Flynn who was world champ, and he also operates a camp over here in Thailand, and I trained there, and he is a top class teacher.

I think he is still in Cork right now, as he goes btwn Cork and Ireland.

If I can do Thai...anyone can!

I'd go for Muay Thai if it were me...

    Best of luck.

I just started Muay Thai and I am really enjoying myself. I was a little worried about fitness at first, but I found it too be tough, but by no means impossible. No one is going to push you harder than you can go, you will sweat, but you will have lots of fun too. There are all types in my classes, so dont worry about it, just go give it a try!
