Spring... er... autumn cleaning

I just realised that I actually don't have the foggiest how to clean out junk from my mac.

When I started out I had a lovely 75gigs... now I have 7! And I can't for the life of me figure where it's all gone! I keep all my massive files on an external hard drive and I've only used up 5 gigs on music... The other ones... I have no idea.

Granted I have installed a few applications on my fair machine and they in themselves would take up space.. but not 60 bleedin gigs.

So I'm wondering if there is any kind of handy application around, either on me 'puter or on the hinterweb that can help me out. Kinda like Add/Remove program for windows.

I just basically need to know what the hell is on me machine and how much space it's taking up!

    Merci mon amis

    -Red

Search for a proggy called 'WhatSize' (don't have time to give a link right now). Good for seeing a view of large files on your drive.

    Yeah... Thanks man!

    Big help!

I just realised that one application is taking up 11 gigs, and a Wacko Jacko album in my iTunes folder is taking up 2gigs!

Some apps ship w/huge databases -- Garageband has 5Gb+ of music files IIRC.

@OP: Get Monolingual too, and get rid of language files you don't need -- saved me a gig or 2.

No... I think it was whatever way I encoded it!

LiveType, part of the Final Cut HD package.. I simply don't understand how it can use so much space.

Also, I have and never forsee myself using it! Which sucks the most!
