    I got a new pc and was wondering what graphics card would suit it as i am an intensive gamer.

    Here is a link to it
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ie/en/sm/WF06b/35123-968421-968421-968421-12221722-12221982-74840583.html

    And i upgraded the RAM to 1gig and have another 2gig's on the way.

    So what card should i get?

    Not really the right forum, Build/upgrade would be better.

    Budget?

    Also any more than 2Gb of memory is a waste as it will not be used.

    7600gt looks like the best so far as for price/performance ratio but would it run BF2 on all high settings?

    It does, and no problems either.

    how much of an improvement is the 7900GS over the 7600GT? i'm looking to upgrade right now also (yay for having a job, etc.)... it fits nicely into my budget but i don't want to throw the extra €50 odd if it's barely an increase in power. right now i have an x800GT that struggles a bit on indoor environments in bf2 and the like...

    gs is slower then gt alright, but the GT is cheaper on komplett (gainward model) somehow... i think we have a winner from my point of view anyway, thanks for the linkage :)

    PS. i had no idea how low down my card was :eek:

    :rolleyes: Buy the 7600gt & use rivatuner to clock it to 7900gt speeds :D

    not a fan of overclocking myself(shortens the cards life and voids warranty)

    But i managed to get the following card but its not compatible with my system

    Nvidia Quadro NVS 440
    It has dual GPU which is 128MB GPU's combined to get 256MB

    Here are specs:
    Manufacturer: HP Part number: PT453A
    Processor / Memory

        * Graphics Processor / Vendor
        * NVIDIA Quadro

        * RAMDAC Clock Speed
        * 350 MHz

        * Video Output / Graphics Processor / Vendor
        * NVIDIA Quadro

        * Video memory technology
        * DDR SDRAM

    Video Output

        * Digital video standard
        * Digital Visual Interface (DVI)

        * Max monitors supported
        * 4

    General

        * Video output interface type
        * PCI Express x16

        * Compatibility
        * PC

        * Enclosure Type
        * Plug-in card

        * Video Output:Type
        * Graphics adapter

    Expansion / Port(s) Required

        * Slot(s) Required
        * 1 PCI Express x16

    Sadly its not compatabile with my dc7600 but i was wondering what would be the best card to swap this with?

    :rolleyes: There is no way of knowing a gpu has been overclocked. Even nVidia couldn't tell it was overclocked & therefore doesn't void the warranty (as long as you don't tell them). With a proper cooler overclocking doesn't really reduce the life of a gpu, maybe it reduces the life of the chip from 20yrs to 10yrs, but it would be well outdated by then.

    Don't heed me, i overclock everything :D

    Thats a workstation card, it runs game too, but its far too expensive solely for that purpose. They are worth alot more then equivilent gaming cards, so you should get a decent sum for it.

    And don't worry about overclocking the 7600gt, I overclocked mine slightly and its still a long way away from needing any additional cooling....

    would it be worth as a trade for a 7950 perhaps?

    like the one in the following link
