    Hi,
Just a few shots from a club day a buddy was attending.

Look close for a self portrait!

And a b&w of a car. Not the usual for this type of shot but Ithought it worked.

    Dont be gentle! :-)

Yep, the 3rd pic is best. Has an old classic look to it. Nice shots

Fairly close for me between the first and last picture, stunning pics. Thanks for sharing.

Love the third picture, I would love to see what the first one would look like in B & W with maybe the grass in the foreground cropped out.

EDIT: I was just messing about with he pic really quickly to see what it would look like.

Just thought I would post my quick B & W conversion (and I do mean quick)

Hope you don't mind. PM me if you want me to take the image down.

Actually I though the last was the least interesting.
    I loved the first one.
I think a little more to the front of the car for the second one would have improved it. also there's a lot of clutter to the right of that pic.
    But yeah, good shots :D

well there's no accounting for tastes huh?

everyone sees different stuff in photographs...nice car if you like cars....if you was run over by one, emm maybe you might not be as keen
pics are subjective sometimes, i think

    so are my ramblings!!

    Thanks folks!

Feel free to re-edit / re-post my images. I'm here to learn a little, share a little and have a bit of fun.

Backgrounds: Yeah, there was stuff all round. it was an action day, not a photography day so I did'nt ask him to move it to a cool location or anything. Possibly should have.

I might do a few more as b&w conversions to see how they look. Glad to see I was'nt dreaming on that one!

Fionn, No worries, I don't like every subject that gets photographed here, but I do like the photo's. After all, I like trees, but I would'nt like one to fall on me! :-)

Great shots, 1st & 3rd are defo my favourites. Very clear and crisp - well done!!

    What lens did you use??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

nice bit of panning there, if a little overexposed for my personal taste :)

What lens did you shoot the panning shots with?

    Thanks for the comments!

I was using a 400f4, IS mode 2, hand held, TV mode set for (about 160) and the F stop was about F11 depending. ISO 200. I just bought the lens the day before, so I was going a bit crazy. I know they get some bad press, but as they say in Mckey-Dee's "I'm loving it".

    Just for Remus :-)

    muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better!

Curse you with your fancy pants 400 f4 IS

The 3rd one certainly has something about it!

I tried panning for the 1st time just recently so I am pretty damn impressed with just how clearly you have captured the car!

don't be too hard on yourself, the IS makes it easier :p

Fantastic shots.... *drools* over cars.... Boo, will just have to download some more Top Gear as a fix (oops did i say that out loud)

nice work merv, like these alot. Prefer your reworking of the first shot as well btw.

    Thanks for the comments!

yup, nice cars. I think the longer focal length makes it easier to pan as your swivelling slower, less jerky action. Still, handholding 400mm at 160 of a second is hit and miss. I did'nt show the 100 pictures I deleted :-)

And it was limerock in CT, USA, not Limerick.

    Full set at www.quest.ie/merv/limerock

Note: That site was done for my buddy and his car buddies. I did'nt get around to cropping them nicely yet. And yes, one is taken from the passenger seat of the hummer :-)

Rymus, The funny thing was the Mini's there were all cooper S's and they were about the slowest thing there too! Dont get me wrong - I really like them. And I would drive one before a Lotus too!

Hand (or is it Mr. Steel?) That was one cool car! I gather the roof thing is aftermarket. Looked very "right" on it.
