I think that Ireland will surprise us again. I dont think any team can take a beating like that and play that badly, and get completely roasted by the press without having some sort of major response. If there is any spine left in that team (and who knows maybe Carsley will provide some) then we should put on a much better show.
Because of the gaping holes in the defence though, I would foresee us conceding as well. I would think long odds on a 1-1 would be a good bet.

3-1 to the Czechs. Ireland to (hopefully) grow a backbone and play better. Nick the first goal and then sit back and try and hold on but the Czech's superior quality will win out and they'll win comfortably in the end.

I hate being this pessamistic about an Ireland game.

I've gone against the face of all logic and predicted 1-0 Ireland because I'm stupidly optimistic when it comes to Ireland matches. A shame really because it more often than not leads to bigger heartache than it really should.
For a couple of hours after the Cyprus debacle I was seriously depressed, dangerous even. I flicked over to the N. Ireland game and watched how a well marshalled team with proper guidance despite no real talent can still inspire and thankfully it levelled out again. Why do we let football matches do this to us?

Agrred, but I think they'll win. And Staunton will be vindicated and go on narrowly miss qualification following an away win in Prague and a home draw with San Marino.

Well after me saying Id be at home at 730 tomorrow it turns out Im going anyway. Doesnt mean that Im holding much hope though! Czechs to win 3-1..Ireland to come out all guns blazing for first 10 minutes, score in those 10 minutes before the Czechs class eventually catches up.

Went for any other Czech win because after Saturdays gutless performance it is hard to see how we can lift ourselves. As I see it that performance showed that no amount of chest thumping and fist pumping tomorrow can get us a win because we don't have any leadership throughout the whole group........!:(

Have you ever seen John O Shea actually play centre half, the position he always played in before SAF starting playing him everywhere and anywhere. Centre half is the guys position.

I don't know about the 3rd reason. I think the players will be really up for this.

I have to say, I'm pretty optimistic this morning. I've just been reading a few betting forums and the Czechs still don't expect to beat us. Most of them would have taken a draw before the qualification started and little has changed for them. A draw will all but guarantee them qualification even at this early stage.

It's a pity. With a top manager and a full squad we're definitely as good as the Czechs.

Yeah I have - he's played there before for Ireland and he was $hite. IMO he is a disaster waiting to happen everytime he walks on the pitch.

I remember a couple of years ago against russia at landsdowne road he lost the ball at the half way line. Did he chase the player back no - he went down as if injured and kept sticking his head up to see what happened. Eventually the ball went out for a corner and he got up not a bother on him and strolled back to defend.

Jon Koller will have a field day with him tonight. I would of course love to see an Irish win, feck even a draw but i cant honestly see anythin but a hiding tonight.

Yeah, I feel like we might get a draw tonight. I think we'll also put on a better performance since the horror of last Saturday.

I didnt take the plunge either. Not worth it at the odds. I mean its fine to say "oh look, I knew what the score wa gonna be (i did!)" but we could have easily been wrong and at 4 to 1 or 9 to 2, its not worth my 20 squids.
