    Hi Guys

I am not great with PC Support!

I got a web email provider, (so I can check my mail online when out and about) but in office, I download email into MS Outlook, where I can manage emails better, and put stuff in Folders etc.

This past 2 weeks, my Outlook keeps downloading 2 or 3 copies of the same emails. Yesterday, I though if I let it down load, it would "fix" itself, and I down loaded.....over 450 emails. today I had about 30 emails when I check the webmail, but when I went to outlook, it wanted to download over another 450 emails.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Otherwise I will have to go to computer shop to get fixed.

Also cannnot uninstall/reinstall as it would updo settings I got an IT guy to put in for me in december (back home) which relates to other database software that some of the emails go to.

    Thanks for any help!

    G

Is the email set up to download as POP or IMAP? Does it download two or three copies at once, or one each time you connect?

    Hi Aidan

Thanks for the reply, I am using web.mail from netsource...so not sure if POP or IMAP...I suspect IMAP for some reason.

    I tried this...

If you don't need messages left on the server after you get them in Outlook, do this:

    In Outlook go to
    Tools
    Email Accounts
Email: View or Change existing email accounts
    Click Next
    Select the acccount (highlight it)
    Change
    More settings
    Advanced
Delivery - uncheck "leave copy of messages on server"
    save and exit

This seems to work, as when I did it, I only pulled down last night/this mornings messages, and it took the messages out of the webmail online account, which is how it worked before.

Not sure how, or why the settings changed, as I nor anyone else was changing anything.

Anyway I hope this fixes the job.

    Thanks

    M

You might have this fixed now but I came across this issue before where the user was using Pop mail, everytime she went to send/recieve it would download a duplicate copy of every e-mail . The problem was with her anti-vrius, she was using Norton which scanned every mail going out and in. when I disabled it it worked fine. I just uninstalled it and put on AVG instead. worked fine after that . anyway it looks like you're sorted but if it comes back to haunt you maybe this might help :)
