.... to New York. Just wondering what their 'inflight' entertainment is like - do they have screens in the headrests or is this hoping for too much. Not overly keen on flying (but it has to be done) and am hoping I'll something to pass the time.

    Thanks

If they don't have ones in the headrests, they will have other screens every couple of rows.

Flew with them last month. Screens in the headrests on the way back to Ireland, otherwise aisle screens flying to the US.

If you have a connecting flight with Delta in the USA then remember to keep the headsets that they give you for free on the Ireland-US flight as you have to pay $5 for them on internal flights :)

Thanks - how was it flying with Delta? I've heard some airlines are better than others for leg room, just wondering how you found Delta. Did you have a stop over in Shannon on the way over? Did you have to get off the plane?

    Thanks again

I found them grand. The crew were a hell of a lot more professional than the snotty-nosed cows Aer Lingus have and the beer was free. :)

As for getting off in Shannon, it is 50-50. AFAIR, half of an airlines flights must pass through Shannon, so if your dates are flexible, you should be able to choose a flight that does not stop in Shannon. If it does stop in Shannon, you do have to get off and waste the best part of 2 hours. Avoid it if possible.

Alot of the time they are just picking up passengers in Shannon, if the flight number doesn't change (on your tickets) then chances are that you don't change planes.

Thanks for that link. I'm flying with Delta from Shannon - New York - Orlando returning Orlando - Atlanta - Shannon in February, economy class.

You may not change planes, but chances are that if you have a stopover in Shannon you will have to get off the plane and reboard about an hour later. Not the case with every airline, but usually this is to facilitate a thourough clean of the plane if it doesn't get done in Dublin.

Flew Air Canada a few weeks ago on a relatively old 767, they still had the cinema screen style thing at the front and middle of the plane, not very good if there's someone tall sitting between you and the screen!

Do you know the current situate about carry-on luggage - read the website and it seems to say you can bring a small bag/case but if you have liquids they have to be in a separate bag but I'm not 100% sure.

    Thanks

You most certainly do not change planes - how many spare planes do you think Delta have knocking about in Shannon?! No, you will most likely have to get off the plane and then back onto the very same plane with the new passengers.

Figured there'd be no plane change - just trying to work out if we have to get off the plane or if we just take on new passengers.

You also will get to experience US Customs and border proctection in Shannon. That will eat up those hours!
