I bought an Xbox 360 package today from HMV, set it up and it just keeps crashing after about 10 minutes of play or so.

Do I need to contact Microsoft or can I take it back to HMV tomorrow?

Take it back to HMV. No need to get onto Microsoft if you've only bought it the day before.

Is it in a well ventilated area? It's probably overheating if it's doing that.

I've had a fan pointed at the back of it and its just been in the middle of the floor - so I don't thinki ventilation is the problem.

    HMV here I come.

I'm just about fit to swing for someone.

Got the console replaced no bother. Got home, set it up, played Table Tennis, didnt crash. Happy.

Until I tried creating a profile and the 360 told me that there wasn't a hard drive attached. Bull****.

Now do we think this is a console fault or a hard drive fault? Because I REALLY don't fancy carrying the Xbox on another 40 minute round trip.

    Wow, really bad luck.

I assumed you tried refitting the HDD just to be sure. Its hard to say which one is at fault, its likely its the HDD but if you bought it as part of a premium package they will want both back anyway.

VERY unlucky, try the troubleshooter on xbox.com, and if nothing works, back to hmv. :(
