Travel Packs

    Hi,

Heading travelling and need to get a rucksack. Have put a bit of research into it and I roughly need to get a 55-60L Travel pack with removeable daypack.

Could anyone reccomend a good pack.

Based in Cork and there isn't a whole lot to choose from, either berghaus or a low range vango, so I'm tempted to buy a pack on the internet but not sure if its a good idea to buy a bag without trying it on first.

Has anyone any experience of the Vango Planet Trekker A3 55+20S Rucsac

    Thanks.

Buying on the internet should be fine. Just make sure that whichever one you buy has an adjustable back system. (ABS).

I used to have a Jack Murphy rucksack and detachable daybag. It was pretty comfortable and had the abs (really important). It was quite reasonably priced too, as I recall.

Whatever one you get, try to make sure it's not got too many extra straps, hooks or similar. While they make it look good, they also get caught in conveyor belts etc. and can cause small rips.

    Hey there,
I am heading travelling in 3 weeks, was in a bit of a dilemma about backpacks too... Finally decided on the Berghaus w.Jalan 55+15 ltr... it is a grand size and comes with a daypack, which is handy.. it is also very comfortable and has plenty of padding for when your carrying it... the only draw back is that it is pretty pricey, cost me €160, but as we are doing a lot of travelling i wanted something that would be comfy.... here is link to some info on the bag :)

As you say, if you are doing a lot of travelling, you don't want some crappy rucksack that's going to fall apart and if it's comfortable to boot, that will just make life easier. E160 well spent IMO.
