    Hi,

I finally have my phone line in from eircom, but with a stupidly difficult number. I would like to change it to an easy number but every time I ring eircom with a suggestion tehy tell me it is not in use but not allowed on the system. Has anyone gone through this before? Can anyone tell me what I should do?

I would appreciate help on this, I am at wits end. Is there somewhere I can go, camp out until someone deals with me properly? I have never ever experienced such a lack of customer service.:(

Are you looking for a number with a prefix that is incompatible with your area?
If not, then I cannot imagine what the issue is.
I'd advise calling eircom's Sales Dept as opposed to Customer Service.

Maybe try and ask them to suggest a number. I know the mobile phone companies have certain easy to remember numbers called golden numbers which you can pay extra for.

thanks for your suggestions. I was onto sales not customer service. The fifth operator I spoke to helped me. Two said they would call back and didnt. One just cut me off, and the other told me he couldnt do it, he didnt know how.

I think you needed to request this when ordering the line. I know when I ordered mine, I simply asked the agent, and they gave me a choice of different numbers. I'm sure they can change it after the fact, but getting them to do it is quite another matter.
