Hard Drive problem...

The hard drive in my Pc seemed to be constantly churning and is quite noisy so I replaced it awhile ago. Right from the start up the same thing happened with the new drive with a fresh install of xp sp2?

Any ideas? Apart from the noise, it doesn't affect the Pc too much, can still play games fine, but it is very, very annoying.....it just sounds like the hd is being accessed by apps all the time even when totally idle and at 2% cpu usage.

Did you try a new IDE cable as well to see if there was any difference, or try it on the secondary IDE, just an idea.

Turn off indexing, and dissconnect any internal speakers.
