I guess everyone's attention has been taken up by caps and pings recently, but is UPC continuing NTL's broadband rollout [in Dublin]? It's gone a bit quiet of late, so just wondering.

They have a huge amount of upgrade to do. Esp. in Chorus areas.

I beleive their aim is to get all the network upgraded to take digital and Broadband then "rebrand". Some bits only do Analogue. Some parts do have digital but need amplifiers etc replaced to have broadband on the cable (no retrun path on an ordinary amplifier).

Broadband uses a TV channel with QPSK or QAM modulation for Downstream and an upstream QPSK usually between 5MHz and 45MHz. Obviously the Upstream path is missing on all of the analogue only network and a lot of the analogue + digital TV , but no broadband parts.
