wireless zero config not starting?

I have a wireless network, XP SP2 Home edition, D-Link router and adapter.

Recently (adter a ram upgrade) I have been having serious problem detecting the network on startup; I narrowed it down to the fact that the Wireless Zero Config service was not automatically starting when windows boots up. It had been previously.

Any ideas how to get thisto start automatically? Setup type is set to Automatic, and I'm the only user on the network so logon is set to Local User Account.

Right now I have to manually enable it each time I boot up, and its driving me nuts

I dont think you need that sevice to be runnig for a wireless network, mine wasnt running and ive now disabled it as well.

On my laptop, intel wireless chipset, ive made up a profile that if it detects our network it automatically logs in to it. Maybe try setting up a profile again if possible.

Not true - this is a wireless usb dongle, as I said in the original post. I wouldn't have reenabled it if it didn't work, now would I?
