Stemming from the current poll results, what are the thoughts of bringing him back, grey haired and all and with the dodgey scarves.

I think, what a damn coup.

Please note, Ive seen all the Doctors, including Peter Cushing.

Superannuated Dr Who! I could see some room for Baker in plot that involved the current Dr being visited by a previous incarnation. That would be good fun.

It would be creative, cost damn all and lend lots of credance.

It would, but IMO it would also blow out the very notion of him being the last of the Time Lords. Whatever way they would have to use to explain it would only open every previous incarnation of every other Time Lord as still being out there somewhere (sometime?), thus negating the seriousness of the Last Time War.

From what I understand of the Wikipedia entry on the Time War, since time itself was used as a weapon in the Last Time War, every Time Lord, as well as every previous incarnation of every Time Lord was effectively replaced, so (if I understand it) only the Ninth Doctor stands open to being reintroduced.

But then again, its Doctor Who - they can do whatever the hell they like!

I read somewhere that he would be interested in coming back to Doctor Who, but only if he got to play someone other than the Doctor, such as the Master. Wouldn't be bad...

There's a theory that The Master is of course The Doctors clone/brother/rouge regeneration/(insert theory here) and this would be a nice fit.

After all one of the books on The Doctor is called "the discontinuity guide".....

Surely the Master is a timelord as well so if they brought him back, then they could bring back whoever they wanted since the Time War obviously didn't work!

He was a contemporary of the Doctor's at the Academy, part of the Prydonian Chapter. I never saw him as a rogue generation because that's basically what the Valeyard is nor do I see him as a clone. Brother? Welllll I doubt it. Certainly in the Lungbarrow mythos he isn't, but they might sort of make him a Cousin, somewhat related.

Either way he should be back!

And a great book it is to to accompany watching the old series! Recommended for anyone checking out the original '63'-'89 run.

Woah this is an old thread but the person who began this thread will be delighted to know that Tom Baker will be reprising is role in a brand new Audio Series! I was very pleased to hear this! Apparently he had no problem getting back into it at all! There's a very good article about it in DWM :D
