    Hi,

I am thinking of getting either Chorus TV or sky TV, does anyone know which one is the cheapest or the best value for money?
I am in Curry Co. Sligo. Does anyone know if freeview is available in this area?
    Cheers for reading!! :):):)

It's really UPC now, not Chorus. Digital Cable is OK. MMDS is poor.

Sky you own the gear and still get about 45 good channels legally when you cancel.

Chorus, you get nothing if you cancel.

    Chorus has C4.

Satellite has better picture quality on the "good" channels

    Sky:
You can get a card from UK for C4 if you have UK a UK address (once off £21 and no subscription). Otherwise Sky has no C4.

Far more TV and Radio on Satellite and similar price per packages, but free opton.

Or just have free Satellite gives 6 or 7 different BBC, 5 or 6 different ITV and about 70 radio stations and 30+ other decent TV inc Film 4. No subscription at all.

Thanks for all the info but can you tell me more about the free satellite option and how to go about getting/installing it? As you may have gathered, apart from ordinary TV from an areial,I am a complete novice so please over explain it.
    Thanks.

When you say sky and satellite, do you mean the same thing or is there a difference? Please explain the differance if any.
    Thanks.

    Satellite TV:
Read all the stickies in this forum
Read stuff inc FAQs in the ICDGopedia (my sig).

Then come back and ask anything else not covered.

Basically a dish picks up a Satellite about 22,500 miles above equator. Every 2 or 3 degrees is a different TV satellite, so dish alignment is critical. You have to point it better than 1 degree (about 40 times more accurate than TV aerial pointing).

About 28 satellites with Free Tv can be got in Ireland. Most of what you want to watch is from "sky" platform, not actually owned by Sky, but SES-Astra and Eutelsat at 28.2 / 28.5 Degrees.

Sky is the pay service from Several satellites.
Sky UK/Ireland, Sky Italia and Sky Mexico

The actual Sky channels are all pay TV. There are lots of free ones from the same satlelites.
