NTL Poor Picture Quality

So I have just arrived home from a year away to find the parents have switched from sky digital to NTL digital. The first thing I noticed (aside from the fiddley interface) is that the picture quality is crap, especaily on fast moving images such as football games. The images are very distorted/blurred, not sharpe at all.
Is this common for NTL, or is there any way to fix this?

I think it's more usual to go the other way, maybe they wanted C4 or none of the sky packages suited.

I've never had sky, never compared it side by side to MMDS, but I would assume sky transmits a better picture (more bw + higher res) than NTL.

Oddly, I think NTL's quality has improved lately, I was watching a movie last night & I perceived the picture quality as being better than usual. I think it might depend on the channel you are watching, as some of the lightweight channels (city channel & C6) seem to have worse quality than say BBC or C4.

Having said that, it does have problems with fast moving images & every so often you get parts of the screen breaking down.

I think they might be able to tweak/fine tune it, as they seem to be doing upgrades every few weeks, but (IMHO) it may never be as good as sky.

To be honest I think it was a cost thing really, thats why they switched.

It looks like the frame rate isnt the same same as sky or something, again the pictures are very jerky.:(
