There was an article on him (and his bike) in the Irish Times.

While no doubt that is a nice bike Rex is riding for up to 80km on a trip, it’s probably a cheapo Australian thing. The top inner circle guys in Babcock and Brown like Rex get well paid. They got bonuses of nearly $267 million on top of their salaries last year, according to the annual report which you can download from their website (page 36 of the AR for y/e 31.12.2005) – which is almost as much as B&B’s net profit after tax ($273 million). Pity the B&B shareholders.

Eircom is a much larger company than B&B so who knows what Rex’s bonus will be come January next?

Don’t be surprized if Rex gets one of these flashy €1 million titanium/platinum bikes for Christmas, together with two chauffeured Ferrari F599s* with flashing blue lights on the roof to travel in front and behind of him as he pedals furiously along the R roads in the Wicklow mountains, working out in his mind how he can outdo the Alfie Kane mob. If you see him flashing by, and you are an eircom customer, remember you paid for it. Enjoy the (expensive) moment.
